Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Grill in Stainless Steel with Side Burner

Summer is here and, when we got the opportunity to test out the Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Grill from our friends at Home Depot, it was a quick yes. We work hard but only to afford opportunities to hang out and relax with friends and family, especially for a summer cookout. The Nexgrill has many standard features we expect to see which include a side burner, removable drip pan, and stainless finish. The overall cooking area proved large enough to grill for 6-8 people at a time. So keep reading for all the details.

Design and Assembly

The overall design of the Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Grill is simple and straightforward. It is a basic enclosed cabinet style grill with four caster wheels on the bottom. The side shelves and adequate sized and directly bolt on. The warming rack sets on the main cooking grids (vs. rotates inside the lid). There aren’t a lot of frills but that’s by design to keep the overall cost comparably low. It features almost solid stainless steel finishes with the panels bolting together.

And, while we focus our reviews on use and performance, it is worth noting that this grill does require basic assembly. The bolts use threaded holes in the steel panels (vs. nuts) no be careful not to overtighten and strip them out. We ran into one instance of the threaded hole not securing the bolt (right side shelf, bottom bolt). Of note… this had zero impact on stability or shelf alignment.

Overall Performance

The Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Grill performed great over the month of testing we used it. The electronic ignition worked without any issues and [light] rain and shine. It uses a single, AA battery and has a good seal which we closely inspected as that’s a common ignition issue we’ve seen in the past.

The cooking area was plenty big with minimal hot and cold spots. This was aided by the slight upward angle of the heat shields. This angled design also helped grease run off towards the back of the catch pan which is where the trap hole is located. The warming rack was high enough that our food didn’t burn when resting on it. The stainless steel grids heated up nicely, giving a good sear and were easy to clean. The side burner worked well, but truth be told we only used it minimally.

The magnets on the doors are cheap and will likely need to be replaced before too long, but that wasn’t a surprise or major issue. Its also worth nothing that we didn’t use the lid-mounted thermostat asĀ  they historically prove less useful that an instant thermometer. But it worked great to give us a rough indication of when the grill was heated up and ready to be brushed off and used.

Optional Accessories

While this is a stainless steel finish, it will get surface rust if left uncovered. We highly recommend at least a cover and probably a mat. The cover will keep all the water out and the mat will prevent staining of your deck or surface underneath the grill. We like these add-on accessories:

Final Thoughts | Nexgrill 4-Burner Propane Grill

Overall we were really pleased with this grill. the overall design and construction seem good as long as you take your time assembling it. The performance was solid. And most importantly… the price point, at $349, is comparably impressive. You can easily drop over $1000 on a grill, and if you want a high-end BBQ set-up then this might not be your best option. However, if you’re a casual cook and weekend griller and just need a good looking, nicely sized upgrade, then this is a great option. The 5-year burner and 1-year grate + overallĀ  warranties make this an easy, quality option.
